He’s still exhausted and it hurts all the time. Neuchâtel’s Patrick Schutz suffers from fibromyalgia-an chronic disease that disability insurance does not understand.

Pain, pain, nothing but pain: Neuchâtel’s Patrick Schuts (41) still thinks he’s flu-without fever, but with a lot of lead tiredness. He wants to stay in bed all day and spend time there. “Every part of my body hurts, fortunately not at once,” he said to the magazine “L’illustré.”

Patrick Schutz and his partner’s daughter, Naya, are three years old.

Even if it’s just played for 20 minutes, the control is lost all day. “I’m as tired as I’ve ever slept while I was sleeping, and I woke up.” He lost a lot of friends who thought he was lying. We can’t go out with them in the evening as we did before, go to bed at 7 p.m. to relax.

A year later, his debilitating condition was revealed: fibromyalgia. It is estimated that 400 000 people are affected in Switzerland. The question is:

Disability insurance (IV) is not applicable to fibromyalgia. There is no scientific evidence: no evidence is provided by blood andx-rays. Fibromyalgia has hundreds of symptoms. The absence of other diseases and the examination is determined: usually soft spots are used.

If there is an increase in pain in 11 or more of the 18 (soft spots), there is a risk of fibromyalgia. Both diagnostic points are close to the tendon-motor method. The cause of the disease is unclear, so it can only be controlled by clinical treatment.

Patrick’s defense should take other medications: painkillers, antibiotics, supplements, stomach-protective drugs, and drops of irritated or dry eyes. “This is an invisible pain,” said Security. He needs to get to know him as many people as he can, to create a Facebook site so that fibromyalgia reaches the consciousness of the population.

Patrick has been unemployed for two years and relies on social support. If the IV had at least partially recognized the suffering, it would have been saved. He needs financial assistance because of his anxiety and chronic fatigue. His greatest hope is a new movement that has just started, calling for fibromyalgia to be recognised as a disease.

He plays with his daughter Naya, but after 20 minutes, his energy is drained.Patrick lies on a mattress to relieve the pain.

The friendship between Patrick and Sylvie’s couple has also become complicated.Because he sleeps early, there’s no such thing as TV songs. Naya is surprised that Dad is going to sleep at the same time. Patrick Schutz doesn’t know how long his condition can last: “I’m just 41 years old, living in the body of an old man!”

Patrick thinks the past will lead to more traumatic experiences. At the age of 17, he was present when his father killed a man with a rock before his eyes.
There’s no touch with Patrick here. The birth of his daughter was also bad: almost the mother and the infant were dead. Patrick: “These things have shaken me profoundly.” He wants to do something with his wife and daughter, but his loneliness and the little money he’s getting doesn’t make his wish come true.
